(updated on 14th July 2020)
Education Bureau’s Further Tightening Up of Anti-epidemic Arrangements
Suspension of Face-to-Face Learning Activities in Kumon Education Centres for two weeks
Thank you for your continuous support and trust to the Kumon Method of Learning!
In the last few days, there were signs of further proliferation of the epidemic in Hong Kong. The number of confirmed cases continued to increase. To further protect the health and safety of students, teaching and school staff as well as the general public, the Education Bureau has decided to further tighten up the anti-epidemic measures: schools should suspend all on-campus activities for two weeks from 15th July 2020 (Wednesday) to 28th July 2020 (Tuesday). Unless absolutely necessary, students should not go back to school. The aforementioned measures are also applicable to the face-to-face Learning activities of Schools Offering Non-Formal Curriculum (including Tutorial Schools). Accordingly, all the Face-to-Face Learning Activities in Kumon Education Centres will be suspended for two weeks.
Suspension of face-to-face learning activities does not mean stop learning, EDB also encourages students to have learning activities at home during the summer holiday. Therefore, the Kumon Learning Method originated from home-based education is absolutely the best choice for parents and children during the epidemic! Kumon instructors will provide maximum support of home-based learning to students and maintain close communication with students and parents.
Home-based learning from 15th July to 28th July 2020 will be arranged as follow:
Parents are encouraged to communicate and discuss with our instructors regarding the worksheet exchange arrangement, such as in person at the centres or by mail so that our students' learning progress will not be affected by the epidemic;
Kumon instructors will closely monitor the learning progress and grasp the learning situation of our students by offering Distance Instruction mode including phone call, WhatsApp, video call, Face Time or SMS etc;
Most of the Kumon Education Centres will remain open during the suspension period for all enquiries, homework exchange and other administrative work while some Kumon Education Centres may be closed in some areas in consideration of the impact of the epidemic may have in the areas where the centres are situated. Please approach our instructors for more updated Centre’s opening hours information.
It is understandably that our parents and students may feel disappointed and helpless towards interruption of their school life by the proliferation of the epidemic after school resumption for just a short period of time. Nevertheless, the development of COVID-19 is really beyond our control. We hope that our students stay healthy and happy as well as maintain good learning habit during this critical moment. Let us take “Learning” as a “Shield” and cope with all unexpected challenges and the coming new school semester with our "Constant" and “Persistent” Learning!
Regarding the concrete arrangement of Kumon Class resumption, we will closely observe the guidelines announced by the Education Bureau from time to time. Parents are advised to visit our official websites and Kumon Facebook for the most updated news or arrangements.
