Kumon Education Centres have reinforced all preventive measures

2019.01.25
Hong Kong and Macau

25th January, 2019

Dear Parents,

Precaution to influenza

Regarding the EDB’s announcement dated on 24th January, all Kindergartners start their early Lunar New Year holiday from tomorrow (26th January), we immediately take all necessary precaution to avoid the spread of Influenza in Kumon centres. We strongly advise you to ensure the health status of your child before sending them to Kumon centres. If you choose to let your child stay at home, Kumon instructors will arrange the homework exchange for your child to make sure the learning progress won’t be affected.

To ensure maximum protection to our children, all Kumon Centres have already taken the following control measures:

  • Thermometer is available in centre and student’s body temperature will be measured if necessary.
  • Hand sanitizer is available in centre for students to use before class.
  • Centre will be regularly sterilized to maintain sanitation.
  • Instructors will pay attention to student’s health status closely. If student has respiratory symptoms, instructors will isolate the student from others and ask parents to pick up student immediately to prevent spread of the disease.

On the other hand, you are also advised to monitor children’s health status closely and pay attention to the following suggested measures:

  • To maintain good personal hygiene, and wash hands after sneezing and coughing.
  • To record the body temperature of children before going to centre and hand in the record form to the instructor.
  • To prepare adequate face masks for children to wear in class.
  • To pick up children on time to avoid the centre from being too congested.
  • Children with influenza and respiratory symptoms are strongly advised not to attend classes at centre and take rest at home and consult doctor promptly. It’s recommended that children can resume classes until children are fully recovered from influenza for more than 2 days.
  • To prepare handkerchiefs and tissue papers and remind them not to share towels or tissue papers with others.
  • To inform instructors immediately if you’ve found your child was suspected or confirmed to be infected.

The Kumon Method of Learning emphasizes daily learning. In case of any students being absent due to sickness, parents should check daily if your child has completed the homework in order to build up the study habit at home. And parents should communicate closely with instructors. We would endeavor to provide learning support for them as far as possible so that their learning progress would not be affected.

We will closely monitor the news of seasonal influenza. Parents can also refer to CHP's Weekly Express (http://www.chp.gov.hk/). Should you have any enquiries, please contact either your instructor or our office at 2890 6533 during office hours.

Yours Faithfully,
Kumon Hong Kong Co., Ltd.
